Description
First introduced by Harley-Davidson, the motorcycle model series named Dyna was popularly recognized for its style, performance, and versatility.
Production of this model by Harley-Davidson ran from 1991 to 2017.
The Dyna models remain a popular choice among bikers, who love these bikes for their blend of a sporting ride with classic Harley styling.
Key Highlights
Twin-Cam Engine: Most of the Dyna models boast Harley’s Twin Cam engine, which combines power with reliability.
Design: The Dyna series has a rubber-mounted engine to reduce vibration and a frame that allows for more performance-oriented handling compared with other Harley families, such as the Softail.
External Rear Shocks: Common for the Dyna series are dual shock absorbers exposed, giving the bikes more of the traditional cruiser look and feel.
Customization: The Dynas have a huge amount of potential for customization – from performance to cosmetic – via the plethora of aftermarket parts available.
Popular Models in the Dyna Lineup:
Street Bob (FXDB): Minimalist styling, solo seat, and a bobber-inspired design.
Fat Bob (FXDF): Known for its aggressive stance, dual headlamps, and beefy tires.
Wide Glide (FXDWG): Features a raked-out front end and classic chopper styling.
Super Glide (FXD): The entry-level Dyna, offering simplicity and a solid platform for customization.
Legacy and Discontinuation:
Harley-Davidson merged the Dyna line into the Softail roster, introducing a whole new major redesign in 2017. The new Softails took on some of the performance and handing of the Dyna models, but integrated the new frame and suspension system. Much to the chagrin of purists, the new models-like the Street Bob and Low Rider-still retain some of that Dyna flavor.
